The Followers of Christ is a Gospel Group of Carteret County, North Carolina. The group currently consists of three singers, David Taylor, Brandon Taylor, & Chelsie Allison. David and Brandon Taylor of Morehead City, North Carolina, are twin brothers that are seventeen years old and are rising seniors at West Carteret High School. Chelsie Allison of Newport, North Carolina, is fourteen years old and is a freshman at West Carteret High School also. The Followers of Christ began their ministery when Brandon and David Taylor gave their life to Jesus Christ at the age of eight. The gospel group called the Four In Christ was a group that Brandon and David grew up listening to. They inspired the Followers of Christ in a way that they wanted to go out from church to church and different events to be able to spread God's word. The group likes to help raise money for many fund-raisers including the Relay For Life Cancer Fund, Boys and Girls Club, Children's Miracle Network, and the Cystic Fybrosis Telethon. In the past seven years, the Followers of Christ have gone from door to door in Carteret County and have raised over $28,000.00. At each home, the group talks to each person about Cystic Fibrosis, and about how the Cystic Fibrosis Telethon works. After, they talk to the people about Jesus Christ and sing them a song. Each year, they present all of the donations collected on the telethon in a big check. This will be the eighth year on the Cystic Fibrosis Telethon. The telethon was Saturday, August 9th, 2008. The Followers of Christ sang two selections that evening after presenting all donations collected.
